Boer goats were originally bred in South Africa, mainly for meat production. Boers are superior to other breeds for the production of meat because they are heavily muscled, gain weight rapidly, and have high fertility rates. They generally give birth to twins and many times have triplets. Boers are also considered to be pasture hardy.
